Case McCarthy Commits to Boston University
- Updated: February 12, 2017

Sometimes things slip past me in the hockey world. This is certainly one of those cases, and is admittedly an enormous oversight. Last season, While playing with the Mississauga Rebels Bantam AAA of the GTBHL, Clarence, NY native Case McCarthy earned a very prestigious honor, committing to national powerhouse Boston University for the 2019-2020 season.

McCarthy, a 6-foot-1 187 pound defenseman is playing this season with the Buffalo Jr. Sabres U16 team, netting 6 goals and adding 18 assists for 24 points in 37 games. At only 16 years old, McCarthy has already earned some Jr. A time with the Jr. Sabres OJHL squad, tallying 2 assists in 5 games against players mostly 3-4 years older than the promising blueliner. McCarthy is already being projected as an early top prospect for the 2019 NHL Entry Draft and very will likely be selected in the first 3-5 Rounds of the OHL Priority Selection this April even with his commitment to Boston University. Case could join another WNY Hockey Prospect on the Terriers roster as Victor, NY native, and current USNTDP U18 defenseman David Farrance, is in line to enroll at Boston University for the 2017-2018 season.
