Lucas Herrmann has committed to play NCAA Division I Hockey at Niagara University for the 2019-2020 season. Herrmann, a 6-foot-1 175 pound forward from Lancaster, NY is one of the top scorers on Buffalo Prep Hockey powerhouse Nichols School Vikings. As a member of the CISAA, Nichols plays a league schedule entirely against Canadian Prep Schools. Outside of the CISAA Nichols doesn’t take any nights off, with a highly competitive non-league schedule against some of the top Prep School teams in the United States. Nichols is currently the 7th ranked Independent Prep team in the nation according to myhockeyrankings.com with a record of 27-18-8.

Herrmann, who has netted 6 goals and 7 assists for 13 points in 14 CISAA games this season, is the younger brother of former Nichols defenseman Zac Herrmann, who is also committed to Niagara and will join the Purple Eagles next year. Zac has split time this season between the Omaha Lancers of the USHL and the Odessa Jackalopes of the NAHL. Zac also played last season in the OJHL with the Burlington Cougars after his time at Nichols. Herrmann is one of about 25-30 prospective players from the Buffalo and Rochester areas who are likely to be selected in one of, if not both, the USHL and NAHL Entry drafts this spring.
