WNY Hockey Prospects

Ryan Sidorski Commits to Union

The Buffalo Jr. Sabres have built quite an impressive reputation recently for developing NCAA Division I Hockey talent and that doesn’t appear likely to change anytime soon. Adding to the list of recent NCAA Division I Hockey players is Ryan Sidorski, a recent commit to Union College for the 2019-2020 season. Sidorski, a 6-foot-2 170 pound defenseman from Williamsville, NY has been a steady presence on the blueline for a relatively young Jr. Sabres team this season. The lone American entry in the Jr. A OJHL, this year’s Jr. Sabres team has certainly had its ups and downs, but is still in the playoff picture as the OJHL season winds down.

Sidorski spent last season with the Jr. Sabres U16 team, notching 2 goals and 6 assists for 8 points over 31 games before making the jump to Jr. A this season. Although Sidorski is known more for his physical presence and solid play in his own end, he handles the puck well and is by no means a one dimensional blueliner. With plenty of time develop his game at the junior level before making the jump to college hockey, don’t be surprised if Sidorski’s offensive numbers make a noticeable jump over the next few seasons.
