Ryan Wheeler Commits to UConn

Ryan Wheeler has committed to play NCAA Division I Hockey at the University of Connecticut beginning with the 2018-2019 season. Wheeler, a 5-foot-11, 165 pound defenseman from Lancaster, NY is currently in his second season with the New Jersey Junior Titans of the NAHL. Wheeler played with the Buffalo Regals 15U of the SCTAMM, as well as the Junior Sabres 16U, 18U and Junior A teams before respectively before being selected by the Junior Titans in the 2016 NAHL Entry Draft.


Wheeler is known for his strong skating and for his ability to jump up into the play and contribute offensively as well. In his first season of NAHL play he tallied 8 goals and 26 assists for 34 points in 57 games and padded his resume further with a goal and 3 assists during 8 playoffs games. This season the blueliner has 4 goals and 20 assists for 24 points in 46 points for the Titans, earning himself a spot on the East Division Team for the NAHL Top Prospects Tournament this past February.
