It’s very likely Dylan McLaughlin will be going to bed tonight a bit happier than he was when he woke up this morning. McLaughlin, a 5-foot-11, 187 pound forward from Lancaster, NY has just been named as a candidate for the Hobey Baker Award, college hockey’s equivalent of The Heisman Trophy.

McLaughlin, currently in his junior season with the Golden Griffs, joined the defending Atlantic Hockey champions two years ago, and has been a major contributor for the team since Day 1, tallying 8 goals and 18 assists for 26 points in 39 games as a freshman. Dylan followed up his excellent freshman campaign by pushing his numbers to 14 goals and 19 assists for 33 points in 39 games during his sophomore season. Not surprisingly, Dylan’s numbers have continued their upward trend and his 12 goals and 18 assists for 30 points over just 21 games leads all Atlantic Hockey skaters and is also good enough for a 6th place tie in all of NCAA Division I Hockey.
