Matt Lane Signs Pro Deal

For Matt Lane, next year’s hockey season will be a homecoming of sorts after signing an AHL contract with the Rochester Americans of the Americans Hockey League(AHL). Lane, a 5-foot-10 176 lb forward from Greece, NY just finished a four year NCAA Division I career with Boston University.

The Americans are a team Lane will be familiar with after growing up in the Rochester suburb of Greece and was a member of the 2008-2009 Greece Thunder hockey team that went an incredible 27-0 on the way to claiming the New York State Class A crown. Joining Lane on the Thunder that season were three other Division I hockey players as Riley Bourbonnais (R.P.I.) Mike Rotolo (R.I.T.) and J. T. Stenglein (Michigan State) were all key contributors to what is likely the best Section V hockey team in history.

Matt finished his senior season with 14 goals & 14 assists for 28 points in 39 games for the Terriers and finished with 33 goals & 36 assists for 69 points over his four year NCAA Ice Hockey career. Prior to his time at Boston University, Lane spent two years with the United States National Team Development Program (UNSTDP), the nations elite program for the 17U and 18U age groups.
