Matt Nuttle & Sioux Falls win Clark Cup

They may have just snuck in to the playoffs, but as any fan, coach or player will tell you, sometimes that’s all it takes. The Sioux Falls Stampede were the last seed in to the Clark Cup playoffs to decide the USHL Champion, but they certainly made the best of their opportunity. Defenseman Matt Nuttle, along with the rest of his Sioux Falls teammates, won their last six games, including a sweep of Youngstown’s Joe Cecconi and the Muskegon Lumberjacks in the finals to take home the Clark Cup

Nuttle, a 5-foot-11, 180 lb blueliner from East Aurora, NY was a trade deadline acquisition by the Stampede after netting 3 goals and 4 assists for 7 points in 27 games with the Bloomington Thunder to start the season. After playing with the Buffalo Regals, and the Buffalo Jr Sabres !6 & U18 teams, Nuttle left homeand moved all the way to Wenatchee, Washington to play with the Wild of the North American Hockey League (NAHL).  After a stellar season with Wentatchee that saw Nuttle total 4 goals and 27 assists for 31 points, the Bloomington Thunder selected him in the 2nd Round, #37 overall in the 2014 USHL Entry Draft.

Matt will move to Ithaca, NY following this season and will be playing NCAA Division I Hockey with the Cornell University Big Red in 2015-2016.
